Gloria

To feel the joy and happiness of the Christian message through the word ‘Gloria’ sung in a Cathedral setting uplifts the weary and is taken from ‘Gloria in excelsis Deo’ which translates from the Latin to "Glory to God in the highest".  Music has taken the lead role in bringing the faithful to praise and worship God.  It can be so uplifting that even after leaving that Cathedral and experiencing that inner upliftment of the soul, the joy continues to hold one in a state of euphoria.  This hymn was sung by the Angels announcing to the shepherds that the Christ was born.  In the Gospel of Luke 2:14 it states, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!”   This is to some the core of the Christian faith, where Jesus is born to lead us and teach us the way to live our lives on this earth plane.  It is surely this announcement that holds us still in joy and happiness and with the music announcing the glory of God in sending us the Christ to us on this Earth.

This beginning of his glorious life, when he prepares for his ministry to come, is an example to us all.  Our life on earth is a preparation for our future work to come.  By this example to us, we are able to understand the emotions and feelings of both the positive and the negative throughout our daily lives.  We earn the right to be able to tell what is good and what is not so and, by using our opportunities wisely, we are able to progress in spiritual development, going through the experiences from birth to the grave and taking with us the extreme knowledge and wisdom that we accumulate en route.  Jesus came before us to show us the way.  He was spiritually guided by those who had come before him and had experienced for themselves the wonders of earthly life.  Jesus took time out to meditate and meet with his guides, who had profited from earlier days, just as our guides have taken a lifetime of earthly experience to be able to show us the way on a daily basis.

It is interesting to reflect on the similarities of lives of those on earth, who all go through the same experiences from their birth to their returning out of the physical body into the spiritual one, where they are greeted in the next dimension of life by those who love them and come to welcome them to the land of Love.  We all have similar opportunities in this earthy life to progress and learn from the example that Jesus set us, as he spoke and labored in simple ways to explain to the souls who listened to his teachings and learned how to fulfill their lives in the interests of others.  He famously said to Thomas, who insisted on feeling the wounds on Jesus’s body after the crucifixion, that he was blessed for feeling the wounds and believing, but more so those who believed without having to feel them.  Jesus was referring to us, who came many years after his life here and who are able to believe and be guided by his reported words and actions.

We do not need a church to hear the words of Jesus.  If we are true to him, they will resonate in our hearts and minds.  Jesus is not bound to any one religion, but as he lived his life, he acknowledged many different beliefs.  He was known to many as the Nazarene, where he grew up in Galilee.  He studied many different faiths that were practiced there.  He was very learned in religious teachings and doctrines. The Temple priests found him exceptional for such a young man, when he discussed religious laws and the Torah.  We need to be broader minded and not be tied to the dogma and teachings of the church.  If we listen to the teachings of Jesus, who still carries the responsibilities for our spiritual welfare, we will understand that it is through the Spirit that mankind must be freed from earthly beliefs.  Our life here on this earth plane is only a stepping board for our learning and understanding.  Our Spirit Guides will help us to feel that euphoria of truth that those moments of glorious happiness bring, as we are moved beyond earthly things.
