The Right Way

There are always two ways to do anything – the right way and the wrong way.  We instinctively know the right way, but we sometimes do it the other way around.  We may try to find ourselves considering the difference between the two, but it is not always so simple.  Sometimes it is only in retrospect that we can look back and see that we made the right choice when everything proved that it worked out okay.  We are not always given a second chance, but what felt right at the time turned out to be a bird of a different feather.

What we felt at first glance turned out to be wrong.   It was not possible until later on in life to see that it wasn’t the right choice and what at the time seemed obvious enough.  We seemed certain that what we wanted was the right way to go, but it wasn’t until later that we could see our mistake.  In hindsight it seemed like a clear choice and yet it worked out badly.  There is a saying about first impressions can be the right thing, as in love at first sight.  It can be so, but it isn’t always true.  Judging by the number of divorced couples one has to doubt it.

Love should be unconditional for future happiness and it needs to be on both sides.  That way it is more likely to last the test of time.  It is no use thinking that love will find a way to change a bad habit, because a leopard doesn’t change its spots and once a person has formed a habit it generally is ingrained for life.  Love is said to be blind and it covers up the bad points in another’s character, but the truth is that at the beginning all is there to see and a good hard look at the realities are a necessary thing to see.

There is always the right way of doing things, but does one always see it at the time?  We need to always be clear about our actions and not be too forgiving of another’s faults.  Takers will always be takers and givers need to beware!  Once a person is evaluated as a taker they need not come calling to a giver, who will always lose out and regret their decision.  Often, they will say,” How can I have been so stupid not to have seen it?”  Well, that question cannot be answered!  One can be blinded by the faults in another, but it will come up time and time again until the right decision is made.  One gets no Brownie points for getting it wrong, so make the right choice and don’t look back.  It is only God who is perfect and gets everything right.  He doesn’t need a second chance, so why should you?
