Disobedience

This is to deliberately not to do what is expected or demanded of a higher rank.  To disobey an order in military terms is to jeopardize the entire mission and would lead to a court martial.    It cannot ever be excused and be looked on as a mark of dereliction against ones fellow soldiers.  Even if the order that was disobeyed was wrong, it is the very act of disobeying it that is the crime here.  One is supposed to obey orders regardless of the rights or wrongs of the situation.  One isn’t supposed to think, but to simply do what one is told to do.

Disobedience leaves a stain on one’s character and the higher ranks will not let it go unpunished.  To put at risk the whole venture is seen as insubordinate and cannot be tolerated.  Once one is known to have disobeyed an order one is a marked man.  One will be put in the most dangerous part of the advance in the hope that the punishment will be made without the rest of the squad having to lift a finger and knowing nods of approval will be made that it was clearly God’s will that the punishment was taken without blame on anybody else.  This is unfair and untrue.

It is not for God to act as judge and jury, although He is certainly able to!  He knows the truth from both sides and to place a man in jeopardy is tantamount to committing murder.  The Commandment is quite clear.  ‘Thou shall not kill’ and yet in a military situation everything about it is to kill as many of the enemy as possible and even the clergy will have taken sides.  It is easy to see and yet not understood just how the clergy forget the Commandments when it suits them.  If they tried to preach that killing was wrong, they would be pulled from their pulpits and called yellow!

And yet they encourage the killing fields to go ahead and disobey God to their everlasting shame.  To encourage others to do the killing, while not actively doing the fighting, is surely worse than being dressed in khaki and putting aside the robes of priesthood.  Who is disobeying who in this scenario?  God says you should not kill, but you bless those who do and don’t lift a finger to help.  In times of war conscientious objectors are made out to be cowards and will be despised by those who go to war and kill as it is equally senseless to disobey ones God, who loves you and wants you to have a good life for the greater good, but not to kill for others in encouraging them even if taken in His name.
